App, App and Away!

2011 is already a marquee year for Peter. A fantastic launch night for his TV series “From the Edge with Peter Lik” was crowned by it being telecast live on a giant screen over Times Square. As the show goes from strength to strength, recent gallery shots like “Tree of the Universe” and “Timeless Land” have been wildly popular with collectors. And, as reported on our news page, Peter’s classic shot “Ghost” has just gone on display at the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C.
Those are tough milestones to top. But another development has been just as important in its own way: The release of the Peter Lik Opus HD app for iPad and iPhone and its popularity with the general public.
The application presents the Peter Lik 25th Anniversary “Big Book” in all its glory: 580 pages featuring over 600 of Peter’s most spectacular photographs. In addition, 33 videos with Peter discussing a selection of the shots have been integrated into the app.
“I love the way it turned out,” said Peter. “When you put so much effort into getting shots you really believe in, you feel a bit nervous handing them over to be made into an app. But I’ve been just stoked with it.”
The application has a look and feel that complements Peter’s art and the functionality was designed with ease of use in mind.
Feedback and sales have both been very encouraging. More encouraging, still, to the Master Photographer is the fact that his photographs are reaching a whole new audience.
“It’s certainly a new age,” he said with a laugh. “Who would’ve thought when I was starting out that one day people would be looking at my photographs on their phone!”
The Peter Lik Opus HD app for iPad sells for $8.99 while the app for iPhone sells for $4.99. Both are available at the App Store.
